The sixth CfD auction (AR6) awarded contracts to 128 new clean energy projects across Great Britain. AR6 secured record solar capacity (3.3GW), representing a 20% increase to the UK’s installed capacity. AR6 also secured the largest floating offshore wind project in the world. At 400MW, the project is double the size of Europe’s total installed capacity of this technology. AR7 is due to open in summer 2025 and will further support the Government’s mission to deliver clean power by 2030.
In July 2022, 11GW of clean energy (offshore wind, solar, onshore wind, floating offshore wind and tidal stream) were secured. The greatest capacity (almost 7GW) was secured from new offshore wind projects.
