This standard provides the guidelines to properly manage pipeline integrity applicable for the following activities: “hydrocarbons gathering; oil, natural gas, and petroleum products; petrochemicals transport (linked to gas processing and oil refining); and natural gas and petroleum products distribution.”
It provides the basis for best practices for inspecting, detecting and repairing leaks in pipelines. This document stresses the importance of predictive and preventive maintenance over corrective maintenance practices.
