In the framework of the Spanish Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, a dedicated plan and call for projects aims at boosting domestic production and development of RE-related technologies as well as low-carbon hydrogen. Most of the available budget is to be awarded between 2022 and 2023, for projects to be executed by 2026. The initial call for proposal closes on 7 June 2022.

In October 2022, additional government funds were allocated to the plan, in the context of the global energy crisis and the related "More Energy Security Plan".
