The Minister of Natural Resources Seamus O'Regan anounced a CAD 320 million fund towards an agreement with the provincial government, to support offshore energy sector workers during the economic downturn caused by Covid-19.

An oil and gas industry recovery task force was estabilshed and will focus on immediate solutions to sustain the offshore industry in Newfoundland and Labrador, and provide suggestions for the utilization of the fund. It is co-chaired by two members of the Oil and Gas Industry Development Council.
