A special investment support for energy efficiency and renewable energy in public buildings was established in 2005. Funding was made available for up to 30% of costs for the following types of investments: Energy mapping ; Conversion of the heating system to shift from fossil fuels or direct electric heating systems to renewable energy sources, heat pump or district heating; Attachment to district cooling; Installation of an electricity efficient lighting system; Installation of electricity efficient ventilation system; Installation of equipment for efficient steering, measuring, regulation and running of engines and heating system; Energy efficiency measures concerning the heat recycling; Energy efficiency measures to decrease the leakage of energy from buildings; Installation of solar cells (solar photovoltaic system). Investment support was not provided for measures that were profitable in the short-term, were part of regular activity, required by legislation or part of the building construction. Measures that contributed to a worsened indoor environment were also excluded. The scheme also applies to owners of commercial premises that are used primarily for public purposes.
