As part of the Plan Relance and its priority on renovating buildings to align with greener standards, the French government has updated its thermal regulation to increase its impact in reducing building's greenhouse gas emissions and decrease energy consumption.
Specific measures include :
-forbidding the future installment or replacement of fuel oil boilers
-reviewing building energy performance
-implementing, before 2022, new environmental regulations (RE2020) on reducing energy consumption, increasing thermal insulation, decarbonising energy systems, making greater use of renewable energy, etc.
-implementing mandatory energy reduction consumption standards
-harmonizing criteria to incentivise buildings' renovation
