The Decree approves Peru’s National Energy Policy for the period 2010-2040. The Policy aims to establish a diversified energy matrix, prioritizing renewable sources and energy efficiency, while ensuring a competitive and affordable energy supply. It seeks to achieve universal access to energy, optimize efficiency throughout the production and consumption chain, and attain energy self-sufficiency. The policy also emphasizes sustainability, aiming to minimize environmental impact and reduce carbon emissions. Additionally, it promotes the development of the natural gas industry for residential, transportation, commercial, industrial, and electricity generation uses. Strengthening institutional frameworks in the energy sector and fostering regional energy market integration are also key objectives, supporting Peru’s long-term energy vision.
