In line with the Government’s vision (Mauritius envisages to increase the share of renewable energy to 35% of the energy mix by 2025 and maintain it at this target by 2030), the Mauritius Renewable Energy Agency (MARENA) has been set up in January 2016 and has as main objective promoting the adoption and use of renewable energy with a view to achieving sustainable development goals and increasing the share of renewable energy in the national energy mix.

In this regards, MARENA is in the process of building capacity with more exchange with regional and international peer institutions in the following areas:• Emerging renewable energy technologies• Managing production and grid penetration of renewable energies• Finding alternative for LPG as main source of energy for cooking• Development of legislations and guidelines for the renewable energy sector:

Main objectives:(a) promote the adoption and use of renewable energy with a view to achieving sustainable development goals; (b) advise on possible uses of liquified natural gas; (c) create an enabling environment for the development of renewable energy; (d) increase the share of renewable energy in the national energy mix; (e) share information and experience on renewable energy research and technology; and (f) foster collaboration and networking, at regional and international levels, with institutions promoting renewable energy

US Crude Oil Inventories Continue To Falter, SPR Struggling To Pick Up the Slack
