The Electricity Law regulates electricity system and industry in Bolivia. The Decree 2048 amending the Law in 2014 established the feed-in tariff support mechanism for renewable energy power producers. The tariff will be paid out by the Ministry of Hydrocarbon and Energy and it is expected to be set in at the nodal level in 2015.
Before the amendment, the Law was providing remuneration to hydropower and thermoelectric producers running on gas and diesel at subsidized price levels which made renewable energy unattractive.
