METI operates various programme for development and dissemination of renewable energy every year. The (provisional) budget of METI for development and dissemination of renewable energy from April 2015 to March 2016 consists of:
- 7.9 billion yen for R & D of offshore wind power generation; - 10.5 billion yen for deployment and demonstrative operation of transmission networks for wind power; - 8.0 billion yen for local investigation for deployment of geothermal power generation; - 2.98 billion yen for R & D of geothermal power generation; - 4.35 billion yen for technology development for lower cost of PV with high-efficiency and high-reliability; - 0.8 billion yen for subsidies for deployment of biofuel; - 2.35 billion yen for worldwide dissemination of Japanese renewable energy technology.
