Since 2010, the Swedish government has allocated funds in order to support market introduction of new technology solutions that increase the profitability and production of biogas. It is intended to promote more efficient and expanded production, distribution and use of biogas and other renewable gases. The purpose is to promote energy technology that is climate-friendly but not yet commercially viable. In 2010-2011, the Swedish Energy Agency allocated SEK 168 million to biogas projects. Funding is available until 2016.
