The 2026-2030 Sustainable Jobs Action Plan was published as required by the Sustainabe Jobs Act.

The Action Plan is centered around three pillars:

Build Canada Strong

Empower workers

Protect industries

The Action Plan outlines several new and existing mechanisms to achieve its goals:

Major Projects Office: Established to streamline regulatory approvals for large-scale nation-building projects.

Clean Economy Investment Tax Credits: Incentives to attract investment in technologies like carbon capture, clean hydrogen, and clean technology manufacturing.

Workforce Alliances: The government invests USD 279.5 million (CAN 382.9 million) over five years, starting in 2026-27, and USD 41 million (CAN 56.1 million) ongoing, to launch new bodies that bring together employers, unions, and training institutions to coordinate workforce development strategies in priority areas like housing, energy, and mining.

Strategic Response Fund: A USD 3.6 billion (CAN 5 billion) fund aimed at supporting transformative projects in industries impacted by trade disputes, such as steel, aluminum, and automotive sectors
