Following the end of the Korean New Deal stimulus programme, the government continues to implement and expand the Green Remodeling Programme as a core policy instrument to improve energy efficiency in existing buildings. The programme provides financial support for retrofit measures including insulation upgrades, high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, and renewable energy integration, targeting public buildings and increasingly the private sector.
Under the 3rd Green Building Master Plan (2025-2029), green remodelling is being scaled up and institutionalised, including the phased introduction of mandatory retrofits for aging public buildings and strengthened support mechanisms.
