The end goal of the Zero Emission City Logistics Green Deal is to reduce harmful emissions – i.e. CO2, NOx and particulate matter – and noise from city logistics to zero by 2025. Local experiments are being undertaken to explore how effective contributions can be made to this reduction.
As part of this effort, the more than 100 participants in the Green Deal launched so-called Living Labs in 2016. Living Labs are research collaborations involving all the parties involved in city-level logistics: shippers, recipients, logistics services providers, fuel suppliers, vehicle manufacturers, knowledge institutions and local authorities.
Under the programme, these parties come together to find workable operational solutions that will make city logistics more sustainable.
