The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between EU and Greenland seeks to establish a strategic partnership to promote closer integration of sustainable value chains for metals and minerals. It aims to support the development of Greenland’s mineral resource sector as a potential future supplier of critical raw materials to the EU. The MoU focuses on cooperation in 5 main areas:
Economic and industrial integration of mineral value chains,
Leveraging high international ESG standards,
Deployment of infrastructure for minerals project development,
Capacity building and skills development,
Research and innovation for prospecting, exploration, extraction, processing and refining.
