Angola has submitted its updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to the Paris Agreement.

Angola has commitment to reducing its GHG emissions by 5% by 2035 unconditionally, using the 2020 Business-As-Usual scenario as a reference point, and by 11% conditional on international financial, technical and technological support.

With respect to oil and gas emissions, the NDC notes reduced gas flaring at oil fields as a measure that could strongly contribute towards achieving the unconditional target, estimating a reduction of around 394 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCF/day) with a reduction potential of 8.9 ktCO2e.
