The law regulates the fuel industry and establishes clear rules governing interactions and competition among its participants.
The 2023 amendment established a minimum fuel stockholding obligation under Part 4. This sets out the minimum amount of stock fuel importers must hold within New Zealand’s Exclusive Economic Zone. The obligation applies to petrol, diesel and jet fuel.
