In the 2025 budget, the Swedish government has allocated SEK 42,601 million for the period 2025–2027 within the investment framework of the national transmission operator, Svenska Kraftnät. Of this amount, SEK 10,319 million is earmarked for 2025. The investments are primarily dedicated to expanding the electricity grid, among other initiatives.

In the 2026 budget, the Swedish government has allocated SEK 56,000 million for the period 2026–2028 within the investment framework of the national transmission operator, Svenska Kraftnät. Of this amount, SEK 14,600 million is earmarked for 2026. The investments are primarily dedicated to expanding the electricity grid, among other initiatives.

In May 2026 the Swedish Government instructied the Swedish Transmission System Operator, Svenska kraftnät, with submitting a revised investment plan. In the revised investment plan, the interconnectors Konti-Skan Connect, Aurora Line 2, and Fenno-Skan 3 are to be excluded. Svenska kraftnät shall submit a revised investment plan to the Government Offices (Ministry of Climate and Enterprise) no later than 31 July 2026.
