The social tariff, managed by Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG), is a social support for end-consumers to have a discount on the tariff for low voltage electricity and low-pressure natural gas networks. Beneficiaries are selected from a list of eligible beneficiaries drawn from data received from sector agents through an automated recognition mechanism. Once beneficiaries are identified, the social tariff is automatically applied by suppliers without request from the customers.
