Japan has joined the Global Methane Pledge, which commits participants to a collective effort to reduce global methane emissions by at least 30% from 2020 levels by 2030. Participating countries further commit to take comprehensive domestic actions to move towards the highest tier IPCC good practice inventory methodologies to quantify methane emissions. As a ‘Global Methane Pledge Champion’, Japan provides leadership to advance the work of the GMP.
