The promotional scheme provides financial incentives for companies to implement innovative pilot projects aiming on improving the energy efficiency of their industrial, commercial or residential customers by means of applying digital technologies. Projects are meant to allow for a measurement and display of energy consumption patterns.

In a second step, advice on how to improve the efficiency should be provided. Finally projects should enable a before-and-after measurement of energy use after the implementation of efficiency measures. Ideally projects include the development and demonstration of software solutions for smart energy measurement solutions. The incentive level partially depends on achieved energy savings.
