The Mexican Energy Innovation Centers (CEMIEs) are virtual hubs that bring together the best and most specialized departments from 120 higher education institutions, research centers, companies, and government entities. These centers focus on applied research and technological development in five key areas: bioenergy, geothermal, wind, marine energy, and solar energy.

Each center operates independently, guided by its medium and long-term scientific and technological plans and strategies, while they are supervised by the Ministry of Energy and the National Council of Science and Technology. Each center is coordinated by its own Steering Group and supported by various evaluation, monitoring, and follow-up committees.
