On Jun 9, 2020, Saudi Arabia implemented the Mining Investment law with the aim to anchor foreign investment in the mining sector and to diversify away from hydrocarbons. The new law includes new initiatives (i) establishment of a new fund to finance the development of the mining sector including geological survey and exploration programs; (ii) expansion of land types for conduct of mining activities and (iii) the creation of a mineral zones register.
