In response to challenging conditions in the global market, the Western Australian government is offering royalty relief to the state's nickel industry in the form of an 18-month Nickel Financial Assistance Program beginning in March 2024. Producers may benefit from a 50% royalty rebate, repayable over a 24 month period, for quarters in which prices are below 20,000 USD per tonne. The Program aims to support local jobs and advance the State's vision of becoming a global battery minerals processing hub.
