The Indian Union Cabinet approved the expansion of the Ujjwala (PMUY) initiative for the distribution of 7.5 million new LPG connections between the period of FY 2023-24 to 2025-26.

In addition for the fiscal year 2024-25, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has increased the targeted subsidy of LPG refills part of the scheme from 200 INR per 14.2 kg cylinder to 300 INR for up to 12 refills per year.
