In the NECP submitted to the European Commission in 2019, Hungary aims to phase out coal and lignite from domestic electricity production by 2030 at the latest, in order to reach its emissions reduction objective by at least 40% by the same date compared to 1990.
The target aligns with the updated NECP updated in 2023.
