The National Council of Economic and Social Policy (CONPES) under the Department of Planning released this plan of action for the reactivation of the Colombian economy following the COVID-19 crisis.
Among other measures, the plan directs the Ministry of Mines and Energy to design and implement a strategy to facilitate favorable conditions for new projects in the energy-mineral sector. Such projects should stimulate the economy, promote the development of new and better jobs and contribute toward sustainable development.
The plan also directs the Colombian Geological Survey to develop a strategy for the consolidation of geo-scientific knowledge for the exploration and exploitation of energy-mineral resources and of the designation of areas with strategic mineral potential. Once such a strategy is designed, the Survey should identify, prioritise and implement geo-scientific analysis to promote the development of extractive projects.
