To address high fuel prices, Norway has removed fuel taxes as of 1 January 2023 through several tax reductions including removing the basic tax on mineral oil and reducing road use tax on fuel.
The goal of the measures is to reduce the prices for final consumers at refuelling stations. The total reduction in taxes on fuel is around NOK 2.2 billion in 2023.
