To foster the uptake of renewable energy in Australia, the federal government extended its solar bank policy (allowing households to buy a share of a medium-scale solar farm) to Australians living in apartments, rentals and low-income households.
October's 2022-23 budget included a AUD 102.2 million grant for 25,000 Australians meeting the required criteria.
