In the context of the global energy price crisis, the Indonesian government increased its 2023 budget dedicated to enhancing electricity access for poor households.
Support will be provided to an increased number of households, in the form of distribution of converter kits to fishermen and farmers, subsidies covering the upfront costs associated to new electric installations, as well as for building 12 solar and micro-hydro power plants in under-serviced areas and setting up over 31,0000 solar street lighting systems.
Beneficiaries of the schemes are off-grid households settled in a poorly-serviced area who are also registered among social welfare recipients.
