The Tax and Revenue Administration (TRA) announced in 2022 that the Government of Alberta will temporarily cease collection of fuel tax, including gasoline, diesel, biofuels, and heating fuel, to reduce the burden citizens experience from elevated fuel prices. Tax collection will not resume so long as West Texas Intermediate prices remain above USD 80 per barrel.
