R&D in building : set up of research program : PREBAT; creation of the research foundation. "bÃ¢timent-éenergie " (building €“energy) The 2005-2007 research program on building called PREBAT initiated by ADEME and PUCA (architecture, buildind and urban planning) has been launched. Budget allocated will be M € 5 for 2005, M € 10 for 2006 and M € 15 for 2007. This program will deal with sustainable modernisation of existing buildings and building with positive energy. This type of building should have energy performance which will go beyond the 2005 building code requirement, consuming on the medium term 2 or 3 times less than current new building and in the long range to be "energy positive". In parallel, a public/private research foundation gathering EDF,GDF,ADEME, LAFARGE and ARCELOR has been created aiming at funding projects on energy positive building
