The UK Low Carbon Transport Strategy was a key component of the UK Low Carbon Transition Plan, outlining the transport sector's role in meeting the UK's legally-binding carbon budgets to 2022, committing the UK to cut its emissions by 34% by 2020 and 80% by 2050. The plan had three components, the first comprising measures to support a shift to new technologies and fuels, the second to promote lower carbon transport choices, and the third to use market mechanisms to encourage a shift to lower carbon transport. It is not a current statement of government policy.
