Australia's Commonwealth Science and Industrial Research Organisation’s (CSIRO) Gas Industry Social and Environmental Research Alliance (GISERA) originates from the collaboration between CSIRO, Commonwealth, state governments and the industry sector. The purpose is to deliver publicly-reported independent research, in particular to the advantage of communities living in gas development regions. Governments and policy-makers benefit from the research outcomes too.
The topics of research entail social and environmental issues, such as water, marine environment, biodiversity, land management, human health and socio-economic impact.
CSIRO’s GISERA was funded under the Gas Fired-Recovery plan with AUD 13.7 million.
