The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) launched the “Building a Better Grid” Initiative to catalyze the nationwide development of new and upgraded high-capacity electric transmission lines. Building a Better Grid will support the buildout of long-distance, high voltage transmission facilities with the goal to make the US power grid more resilient to the impacts of climate change. "Building a Better Grid" deploys more than USD 20 billion in federal financing tools, through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the Smart Grid Investment Grant Program, and others.
