Belgium and Oman signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote and develop green hydrogen projects, especially on the green Hydrogen Sultanate anchor project “Hyport Duqm” (the Sultanate’s strategic green hydrogen project in the Duqm Special Economic Zone). A 250 - 500 MW green hydrogen factory is to be built in the first phase aiming to start operation in 2026.

In addition, Belgium and Oman also agreed to work on the implementation of standards for green certification and the interaction between universities, scientific research institutes and the private sector of both countries.
