As part of the Green Innovation Fund, funding scope was created to fund hydrogen-related projects as follows:
Up to 300 billion yen is set aside to develop a large-scale hydrogen supply chain and to create sufficient demand for hydrogen. The project focuses on developing the transport and liquefaction technologies and hydrogen combustion demonstration project.
Up to 70 billion yen is set aside for the development of hydrogen production through water electrolysis using renewable power. Beside production technology development, the funding also include scope for technology demonstration.
Up to 193.5 billion yen is set aside to develop the capabilities of hydrogen utilisation in iron and steel making industries.
