Within the American Jobs Plan, President Biden proposed a USD 69 billion investment to reenergize America's power infrastructure, putting the country on the path to achieve 100% carbon-free electricity by 2035.
The fund will build a more resilient electric transmission system. This starts with a targeted investment tax credit will be created to build at least 20 GW of high-voltage capacity power lines. A new Grid Deployment Authority at the Department of Energy will support better leverage of existing rights-of-way and support creative financing tools to build additional high-voltage transmission lines.
