The National Electric System Operator carried out the Demand Response pilot program, which should be effective until April 30, 2022 (Ordinance No. 460/2020).
The objective of the programme is to reduce the costs of servicing the national electrical system, providing greater reliability and low tariffs to final consumers. The Demand Response program is based on incentives to reduce consumption at critical moments in the system. It offers to reduce the consumption of electricity upon payment financial compensation, alternatively to the dispatch of thermal plants outside the order of merit.
The underlying results would be to achieve greater flexibility in the grid and lower generation costs.
