Special funding line was created at the begging of the Covid-19 pandemic to support sugarcane industry. This program provided emergency financial support thru working capital loan for ethanol storage. It was an integrated action with other banks, through co-financing, to support companies in the need for liquidity.
With R$ 3 billion budget, the funding ranged from R$ 10 million to R$ 200 million per company. With this programme, BNDES seeked to minimize the risk of energy shortages in the post-pandemic period.
