Main target of the legislation is GHG reduction target with milestones every 5 years reaching 80% GHG reduction by 2050 (vs 2020). It is applicable to all ships in the EU with a gross tonnage above 5000 regardless of their flag. RFNBO and low-carbon hydrogen can contribute to the GHG reduction target (GHG emission reductions are assessed based on well-to-wake basis). Additional incentives for RFNBO include (a) an indicative target of 1% by 2031; (b) a conditional sub-target for 2034 (if the 2031 goal of 1% is not met, then a 2% by 2034 is applicable); (c) a multiplier of 2 for the GHG reduction until 2033
