This scheme is to promote the energy conservation measures in the street lighting systems and water pumping systems, which both show significant energy conservation potential. Around four percent of the energy consumption in the state is through the state water supply and two percent of energy consumption is through street lighting systems. Through this scheme, the respective municipal corporation/municipal council can access a subsidy of INR 25 Lakh for the implementation of energy conservation measures, while the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradikaran (MJP) can access subsidies of INR 5 Lakh.
