This builds upon the Law No. 196 of 2017 for Gas Market Activities Regulation. It allows third party access to gas networks and facilities on non- discriminatory bases. Furthermore, it aims to liberalize the gas market, to promote fair competition and ensure the entitlement of eligible consumers to select their suppliers.

Moreover, it indicates that GasReg will inspect facilities, monitor and otherwise follow-up the performance of the licensees through performance standards for different gas market activities and verify compliance with licensing requirements. GasReg shall also set the economic regulations and the rules of calculating the tariff of the gas networks and facilities.
