Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2025
India's 2025 amendment to the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 accelerates mineral production and market development. Key changes include expanded exploration financing through the National Mineral Exploration Trust (contribution increased from 2% to 3% of royalty), inclusion of new minerals in existing leases, up to 10–30% extension of contiguous lease areas for deep-seated minerals, establishment of mineral exchanges for transparent trading, liberalised surplus sales from captive mines, and expedited auctions for bauxite, iron ore, limestone and manganese.
