RIYADH — The General Directorate of Traffic in Saudi Arabia has mandated six conditions for truck and heavy equipment drivers while their vehicles are traveling on roads. Firstly, truck drivers are required to use the rightmost lane on multi-lane roads. Secondly, they should adhere to the permitted times for entering or exiting cities. It is also stipulated that transported loads must be securely covered and fastened to prevent them from falling. The drivers are prohibited from transporting passengers in trucks not designed for that purpose. It is also mandated that drivers have to place a triangular warning sign or reflector at a sufficient distance behind the truck when it is stopped at night. Sixthly, they should comply with the permitted dimensions and weight limits for loads to avoid violations and hazards. The directorate emphasized that truck drivers’ compliance with traffic regulations and instructions is a fundamental element in enhancing road safety and protecting all road users.
