RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has approved a new General Education Law under a royal decree, establishing a comprehensive framework to strengthen governance across the general education sector, improve educational outcomes and support the Kingdom's Vision 2030 objectives.Minister of Education Yousef Al-Benyan expressed his appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman for approving the law, describing it as a significant step in advancing general education and enhancing the sector's regulatory and operational efficiency.The law defines the roles and responsibilities of the Ministry of Education, the General Education Affairs Council and other relevant entities to improve policy coordination, decision-making and oversight of the general education system.It also establishes a regulatory framework for private and nonprofit sector participation in education, aiming to encourage investment, expand educational partnerships, improve service quality and broaden educational opportunities in line with Vision 2030.The legislation emphasizes the protection of the right to education, safeguards the rights of students and teachers,

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia's armed forces, in coordination with the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), carried out precision strikes on Wednesday against Iran-backed militia targets in Iraq linked to recent drone attacks on the Kingdom's oil facilities, the Ministry of Defense announced.Defense Ministry spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Malki said the operation followed attempted drone attacks on oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh region on Monday and Tuesday, which Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed.
