Variation or transfer

The Canadian Energy Regulator Commission may vary or transfer energy authorizations either on its own motion or upon application, and may impose new, modified, or additional conditions as part of such variations or transfers.

Variation or transfer

300 (1) The Commission may, on application or on its own initiative, vary an authorization and may, on application, transfer an authorization. (2) In varying or transferring an authorization, the Commission may impose any conditions in addition to or in lieu of any conditions to which the authorization was previously subject.

The Canadian Energy Regulator Commission may order pipeline operators to reimburse federal, provincial, municipal governments, Indigenous bodies, and other persons for reasonable costs incurred responding to unintended or uncontrolled releases of oil, gas, or other commodities from pipelines, even if costs exceed the operator's statutory liability limits.

Jurisdiction
